Need help with LWCW? You're in the right place.
LWCW is a spelling practice app for primary-school children. Parents can add school spelling lists, let children practise using Look, Write, Check, Write, and use Test Me when they're ready.
Common questions
How do I add a spelling list?
Open Parent settings and create a new spelling list.
You can:
- type words individually
- paste a list of words
- take or choose a photo of a spelling sheet and review the recognised words before saving
Can my child practise only part of a list?
Use the practice options available for the spelling list to choose the words you want to work on.
This can be useful for splitting a longer weekly spelling list into smaller practice sessions.
What is Test Me?
Test Me lets your child hear each word and try spelling it from memory without seeing the answer first.
After each word, they can check the correct spelling and mark whether they got it or would like to practise it again.
Does LWCW need an account?
No.
There are no child accounts, usernames or passwords. Spelling lists and practice work are stored on the device.
Does LWCW use ads or subscriptions?
No.
LWCW does not contain advertising or subscriptions.
Where is my child's work stored?
Spelling lists and practice journal entries are stored locally on the device.
LWCW does not provide cloud syncing or an online account where this work can be retrieved.

Why can't LWCW read my photo correctly?
Photo scanning works best when:
- the spelling list is clearly visible
- there is good lighting
- the page is reasonably straight
- handwriting or printed text is clear
- there is not too much unrelated text around the spelling list
You can review and edit recognised words before saving them.
If scanning does not work well, you can always type or paste the spelling words instead.
I can't hear a word being spoken
Check that:
- your device volume is turned up
- silent or mute settings are not preventing audio
- a text-to-speech voice is available on your device
Speech is provided by your device's text-to-speech system, so available voices can differ between devices.
Can I recover a deleted spelling list?
No.
Deleting a spelling list also removes its associated practice journal from LWCW.
Export any journal pictures you want to keep before deleting a list.

- your device model if you know it
- your operating system version
- what you were trying to do
- what happened instead
- a screenshot, if useful
Please avoid sending your child's full name, photos or handwriting unless it is genuinely needed to explain the problem.
